Using the Lodge as your home base, some of the local attractions include:

  • For those who enjoy fishing for the local Barramundi or setting up a Red Claw trap, Lake Tinaroo is a fishermanˇ¦s paradise and only 200 metres from your front door. If you prefer outdoor water sports, Lake Tinaroo offers skiing, yachting, windsurfing and boating.

  • 30 Minutes drive time allows you to visit the Lakes Eacham and Barrine, Yungaburra, Atherton, Mt Uncle Winery, Golden Drop Distillery and the giant Curtain Fig Tree. There are also Coffee Plantations with tasting facilities in and around Mareeba.

  • Should you wish to venture further, a drive of under 60 minutes
    will take you to Ravenshoe, Millstream Falls, Granite Gorge, Malanda Falls, Millaa Millaa falls and Kuranda, which offers scenic railway trips, Skyrail, Rainforest Tours, Birdworld, Koala Gardens, Butterfly Sanctuary and the unique Kuranda markets.

  • A little over a 60 minute drive will see you in Cairns, Innisfail, Paronella Park and the Undara Lava Tubes.

Wilderness walking tracks:

If you enjoy walking ˇKˇKˇKˇKˇK.  stunning waterfalls, spectacular rainforest, crystal clear creeks and magnificent vistas are just the beginning. Misty Mountains is Australia ˇ¦s first network of long distance walking trails in a high altitude rainforest environment.

Over 130 kilometres of tracks have been constructed under a unique partnership between the shires of Eacham, Herberton, Cardwell and Johnstone, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS), Traditional Owners, and volunteers from Conservation Volunteers Australia.

Misty Mountains offers experienced walkers some of the most pristine and rewarding long distance hiking tracks in Australia.

You can walk down the range, starting in Ravenshoe and finishing at Cochable Creek campsite or try the ultimate long distance walk: start at the Cardwell Range trailhead (near Ravenshoe) and walk down to the Gorrell trailhead, 71.4 kilometres away!
